Its officially summer time. You know what that means. Its time to pack up the car and get out or town and enjoy a nice family vacation. Mommy and daddy decided that they had had enough of Cincinnati and that it was time we hit the open road and explore the dirty south for a week. I must tell you I was super excited about this. Since I was born at the the beach and mommy and daddy up and moved me away from it, this little girl has been itching to get her toes back in the sand and take in the ocean breeze and work on her sun tan.
With Charleston, SC as our destination mommy and daddy packed up the car and got us out on the open road. I was so excited that I figured I would get the vacation off to a great start by having an accident in my pants not even 30 minutes into our trip. Now while this made me a little embarrassed since I am almost two now and thought I was a little more potty trained at this point, I decided to break the tension from making them have to pull over by letting them know that “While children in the back seat can cause accidents, accidents in the back seat can cause children.” Mommy and daddy wanted to know where I heard that from since they said that is how I was conceived. I don’t get it.
After over ten hours in the car and a quick pit stop in Charlotte to see our friends Sean and Jess and for daddy to check out the NASCAR Hall of Fame (yeah, he is that guy) we finally made it to Charleston late into the night.
The next morning I was in for my first major shock of the trip. Now I know I was pretty young when I moved away from California and the beach, but I am fairly certain that I remember the ocean eating the sun every night. I was in for a major shocker when the first thing I saw on our trip was the sun coming back up out of the water and rising up into the air, instead of down into the water. I mean, how is that even possible. This world is so confusing.
After I got over this initial shock the rest of the trip went pretty smooth. I got to run around in the sand and the water, got to build sand castles, and enjoyed time with Grammy and Grampy and Aunt Roo Roo.
Now being the smart, logical parents that I have our trip was not over when we left South Carolina. They got the brilliant idea that we should go to Chicago to see some friends and Uncle Ty Ty. People…Charlston is in the South…Chicago is NOWHERE even close, on the way, in the same region or time zone for that matter. Where these two brilliant people that I call parents got the idea that it made sense to go all the way to Chicago right from there I will never know but it was well worth it and Chicago is quickly becoming one of my favorite cities. I got to see some of my old LA friends who happened to be in town, sent some time with Uncle TY TY and got to explore the city.
All in all I like this whole vacation thing and told mommy and daddy we should do this more often. Cincinnati is great and all but this little adventurer needs to get out and see this country Y’all. Well, it looks like I picked up a new word this week anyway. Now its back to Cincy and can’t wait to see what the rest of summer has in store for me.
